Bottega Art Gallery started as the brainchild of Johan and Alet Coetzer in 1988 when they began running art exhibitions in their house in Bloemfontein, Orange Freestate, RSA. After relocating to the heart of the Karoo, Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape, they started their own gallery and framery under the name "Bottega Art Gallery and Framers".

Bottega is the renaissance Italian name for an artist's workshop. This was felt appropriate as many artists furthered their career through the gallery. Art classes were also presented to enthusiastic locals.

Today we specialize in Investment Art by Old Masters and also some deserving Contemporary Artists. Framing is still done and the exceptional designs to enhance artworks and quality, professional framework, makes Bottega a sought after destination for art lovers.

We also do appraisals on valuable pieces and provide expert advice on investing in art.
