He officially became an artist by profession in 1945 at the age of 29.
His paintings epitomize a sense of liveliness and variety of tone
and colour with richness, truth and deep accuracy.
His passion for nature in all its moods and nuances, coupled with
versatility, embraces the sea, farmlands, the vastness of the Karoo,
the Winelands and the beauty of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.
He lived and worked throughout SA and visited Madagascar in 1973
